Product Description

Prepare for 2018 Coding Updates and Navigate Difficult Coding Scenarios in Home Health

There are 360 new codes, 42 deleted codes and 226 revised codes effective in January 2018. There are 72 new codes to better describe non-pressure ulcers alone, and 9 new codes for specific heart failures. Join this session, where home health coding expert Cindy Osborne will cover these changes and will provide guidance on how to select and sequence your codes accurately to avoid loss of reimbursement and improve agency outcomes.

Cindy will review guidelines and conventions for coding prior to an explanation of new and changed codes effective January 10, 2018. She will provide examples of the use of some of the new codes and of difficult coding scenarios. She will provide some basic anatomical explanations for expansion of some of the codes. You will learn how to accurately code cardiopulmonary diseases with new and expanded codes. Cindy will explain proper sequencing of codes in multiple coding situations and will discuss pressure ulcer coding vs. OASIS responses.

You will achieve improvement in reimbursement with the use of specific codes vs. non-specific codes. You will also achieve improved outcomes with accurate completion of coding affecting risk adjustment.
