Product Description

Injections and Infusions Coding for Chemotherapy may be Tricky due to Specific CPT® Guidelines. Learn When & How to Use the Codes Correctly.

Many clinical practices as well as facilities struggle with the coding of injections and infusions for chemotherapy because there are specific CPT® guidelines with initial, concurrent and subsequent services. There are also ways to report the administration of multiple drugs at one session, or more than one session.

Chemotherapy drugs can be expensive, and the profit margin is usually small. When reporting for chemotherapy infusion, you not only choose the CPT® code(s) based on time, but also on the number of drugs being administered and the method being used. There are also specific guidelines to follow for administering multiple drugs at the same time, or one after another. It is important too that the sequencing is reported according to the CPT® guidelines, as well as under certain circumstances in which initial services can be reported more than once to obtain the most reimbursement.

This conference by expert speaker Lynn Anderanin, CPC, CPC-I, COSC will dissect the guidelines found in CPT® to better understand when to use the right CPT® codes. There will also be a supplemental table that can be used as a job aid for coding these injections and infusions. In addition, common combinations and multiple drug administration will be reviewed with case examples.
