2017 Podiatry Updates on Medicare Policies, and CPT® and ICD-10-CM Coding

For 2017, there are some changes to some very common surgery codes for podiatry related to bunions, as well as ICD-10 codes. Podiatry has not had many changes in recent years but the bunion repair codes are getting a major overhaul to update them according to current methods of these repairs.

This conference by expert speaker Lynn M. Anderanin, CPC, CPPM, CPC-I, COSC, will focus not only on those changes, but the current Medicare policies on podiatry services. These services have quite strict rules related to medical necessity and the limitations to what podiatrists can perform. Along with the changes to CPT® codes, there have been changes to the ICD-10-CM codes related to bunions and this session will address these changes. As Medicare policies change periodically, Lynn will review them along with the changes and talk about the common reasons why podiatry claims receive denials, and how to reduce them for timely reimbursement.

You will also receive an updated bunion repair chart with the 2017 CPT® changes that will assist in coding these repairs and information on these changes from the AMA CPT® Symposium. Plus, Lynn will discuss several new ICD-10-CM codes to help you in the coding of bunions as well as Salter Harris fractures of the toes.
