Falling afoul of federal fraud and abuse statutes can prove catastrophic for radiology practices and radiologists, entailing vast civil penalties and in some cases, even landing radiologists in jail. This presentation by Richard Gunderman, MD, PhD, MPH, provides an overview of the terrain, enabling radiologists to scrutinize their practices for potential infractions and to adopt policies and procedures more in line with federal policies.
This session will acquaint participants with the definitions of fraud and abuse, the types of fraud and abuse, key federal statutes governing fraud and abuse, penalties associated with violations, and strategies by which radiologists and radiology practices can adopt to ensure that they are not in violation.
Who should attend: This presentation will be of special value to radiologists, radiology practice managers, and allied health professionals with responsibility for radiology department policies and procedures.
